Ah 'leisure'. Woo-hoo. Play time !
It doesn't matter what stage in life we are at, leisure is the alpha to the omega, the day to the night (or night to the day), the antidote to the poison and the one tonne weight that balances the scales!
We need it, whether we choose to make it active or passive and experience it alone or shared.
I spent three years studying the meaning of leisure, understanding how the sector can best serve the customer / client and five years helping people enjoy it (I guess I should re-phrase that!).
Gazillions of spondoolies are spent on it every year. That's testament to the value we place on it.
For me, I believe in (and practise) a blend of active and passive leisure, as most of us probably do. Invariably, if you're going to go at 'it' (whatever 'it' is) then you need to chillax after 'it'.
What I have realised throughout my life to date is that I have a handful of preferred active leisure pursuits that I really enjoy, such as swimming, running, cycling, playing tennis, squash and pool. I also have a willingness (an ambition perhaps) to continually try new activities.
After all, how do you know if you're going to enjoy something, or dare I say it, 'be good at something' by exposing latent talent unless you try it and do more of it in order to improve. Have you ever thought "I'd like to try that?"
Well, if you have, why not go do it? It's as simple as that really ...
Why not check out Full On Living Blog to see if you can find an appealing activity and/or someone there with a similar interest?
