If you're living a portfolio career and compilation lifestyle then a healthy, balanced, nutritious diet is an absolute must!
After all, where the heck are you going to get all the energy needed to fuel the engine?
Keeping the tank full and avoiding 'bonk' requires an understanding of one's own metabolism, nutrtional needs and will power to enjoy a compilation lifestyle to its fullest extent.
In case you haven't already noticed I tend to have a healthy appetite for everything - life, work, leisure - so it's no surprise I also love eating!
The great thing about being so active (i.e. living a Full On compilation lifestye and portfolio career) means I don't deny myself any food stuffs and I can enjoy eating a full range of food types without 'feeling guilty'.
I've tried denying myself the 'naughty' food stuffs but I just crave them more and end up eating more of it, so I simply eat what I fancy, in moderation. I do check the amount of confectionery I eat though as it doesn't provide the kind of nutrition my mind and body need primarily for the active lifestyle. But sweet food stuffs taste good and are firmly on my grocery list!
I tend to eat a lot of protein - fish and chicken, and carbohydrate - pasta, rice, potatoe (whole-wheat/grain varieties where applicable) - as they give me the energy to keep the boiler stoked, muscle power for strength and are low in fats. Albeit the daily recommended calories for a woman is 2000 (2500 for a man) I reckon I eat about 2500-3000 per day due to my body's needs. Let's face it, it's all about balance. 2000 calories is the average / standard based on 'standard' activity, but if you work hard and play hard Full On 16-18 hours per day including 1-2 hours of active leisure then you're going to need more.
And that's OK. This is one of the fabulous benefits of living a Full On life - you get to enjoy more food ... and more of the 'naughty' food you like!
'The experts' tell us that a balanced daily intake comprising protein, carbohydrates, 'neutrals' and fats is the best way forward. It's working for me. Fats means I can have chocolate AND cake. Yumbo!
How about you? What's your thoughts on nutrition and your body's needs for the lifestyle you live?
